I just read about baby James arrival and now this. First, let me say congrats and second, hang in there. I never really knew the full and awesome power of prayer till Sandy's son's accident and his ongoing recovery ...it REALLY DOES work!!!! Please know that you are all in our daily and nightly prayers

I made this page last night out of a quickpage. He looked so sweet in his little patriotic blankie. Then today with all the trouble he had, I feared I jinxed him and he would not make it.

Hang on in there Marion. Little boys that are so premature often have breathing problems. His little lungs were not quite ready for breathing oxygen/air, but the doctors will do all they can to help him. My thoughts are always with you and your family.

Little James had 2 blood transfusions today and medicine to help close his heart valve and he is responding very well so far!:)

He is still doing good. His heart murmer is almost gone since his medicine. His color is very nice and pink since his blood transfusion and he is up to 2 pounds and 3 ounces today! All in all little James is doing very well. We are not out of the woods yet, so please keep him in your prayers!

Hi Marion..I have been thinking and praying for baby james, you and the rest of your family ..believe me Dear Marion that there is really really power in the SBM family .. when these friends start praying, the Lords starts working...do you remember that oldold movie Its a Wonderful life... in that movie everyone in town is praying for George and it sounds like thousands of voices talking at once...the Lord tells oneof his angels about all the people praying for him so they had to help him out...thats what I imagine when I think about all of you praying and I know God hears all of you and "does something.."..thats why that baby is doing better...God will continue helping him and soon he will be well and going home..big hugs to you my friend..

Few year ago. one of our friend had a baby daughter just like James. Now she is 7 years old and doing fine. I'm glad he is improving and doing fine !!

It is beginning to look like little James may need heart surgery to close the valve in his little heart. He is not gaining much weight. He is only 3 ounces more now then when he was born almost a month ago now. They will make a decision soon on when and how. It sounds like they can do it with Microsurgery and not open heart. Please keep praying for the little tyke!

I went up to see him today. He is finally gaining some weight. Almost 2 1/2 pounds now. The hole in his heart is still open and they are doing a new echo tomorrow, and decide if or when they will do surgery. I still hope it will close on it's own. He is a spunky little fellow. He keeps pulling out his cpap and so they have him on a nasal canula and he is much happier. All in all, he is hanging in there and doing pretty good considering.

This is sooooo good to hear Marion! 2 1/2 pounds is great! Praying that he continues to gain weight and that they won't have to do surgery on the little guy. Often times the hole in the heart will close on it's own and praying that is what will happen with baby James.

Wonderful news Marion. I was born with a hole in my heart, and it closed on its own. I only wish the hole in my head had closed up as well. So don't give up hope that the little one won't need the surgery!

Sorry Marion I havent been around lately but that doesnt mean I have stopped praying for Baby James, looks like you had some scary times there, and some good things happen too. Have you got any test results back yet. I sure hope they dont have to operate on that tiny heart of his. But if they do...He will get through it, thats one tough cookie you got there!!!

Ok I try to shy away from these sad threads...gotta tell you ladies it's really hard not to shed a few tears reading through these prayer requests while I'm at work...a guy can get some strange looks from the rest of the guys...but as a father my curiosity is getting the best of me here...

Is there any update on little baby James??? I'm praying that no news is good news here...anyone hear anything in the last few days?

Thanks for asking. Baby James is gaining weight and just passed the 3 pound mark. But it is still 1 step forward and 2 steps back. They took him off the caffein in hopes that his heartbeats would be more even, but then he is having problems with breathing and apnea. He quits breathing and they have to get him going. Day before yesterday they had to bag him. He had so many spells yesterday that he was not allowed to do his Kangaroo Kare. They had to put him back on the Cpap and give him extra oxygen. So it is still a bumpy ride and probably will be for a while longer. But he is a spunky little guy!

James gained 50 grams yesterday and 50 grams today. He is also starting to nuzzle which means he is getting ready to learn to eat by mouth instead of through a tube. He is at 31 weeks now. They still have him on the cpap and I think he does better because he does not have to fight so hard and expend his energy breathing instead of growing.

James broke the 4 pound barrier this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is 4 pounds and 2 ounces. They took him off the cpap and are just using the nasal canula, and hopefully in a few days he will go into a regular crib instead of the little incubator thingy his in now. He still has his feeding tube, but they are going to start training him to eat from a bottle and the breast now. Good progress!

Baby James is nearly 4 1/2 pounds now. He is starting to drink from the bottle and some from the breast. He is actually getting chubby cheeks now! The docs in Madison are considering letting him come to our local hospital here in Janesville. That would save so much time and gas and would be so much more convenient. Please keep praying for the little fellow.

James weighs 4# 15.1oz! Almost 5 pounds, I can't believe it!!! He was taken off the nasal canula yesterday at 1:00pm and is still doing great! God is great! There was a correction to the eye exam results (thank you so much for praying!) He only has stage 1 retinapothy!!! Praise God! James nursed again this afternoon and took 14 ml! He's been doing a little better every day with taking the bottle too. He is so close! He had his circumcision done today and everything went fine. (Brian and I actually watched the entire procedure) I have a smile on my face as I type this next bit... I brought James' carseat in today! He isn't coming home just yet, but he's so close. The only thing holding him here now is his feeding issue. Everything else is a go! James had his PT eval today and his muscles are quite under developed, but she said it's because he didn't have much time to practice strengthening them in utero, so we will have to work at home and with birth-3 to strengthen him up. If he's anything like Isaac...it won't take long! God has been so wonderful to James and we are forever thankful to Him as well as all of you for your prayers. What a wonderful feeling it was for you to hold Baby James. He has come so far and hope he continues to make progress. Our little one is just two weeks old and about 5 1/2 pounds now, so I know the joy of just cuddling them at this stage.

Well, we had hopes of bringing baby James home this weekend. But he is still not taking enough feedings without the feeding tube and until he does that, they won't release him. His mommy and daddy are so bummed out! (and so are we) It's been such a long road and we are so close and yet......

That's OK. He's been fighting for so long he had to stop and take a deep breath. He'll be up and fighting again this week and maybe THIS weekend will be the day! Such a long time to wait, you all have to be riding a rollercoaster of emotions. "Will it be today? Nope, not today." But it won't be long now. Keep your chin up. We're still praying for him and your entire family!

Aww sorry to hear he can't come home just yet. It shouldn't be much longer though. Hey, maybe he has a secret crush on some of his nurses and wants to stay long enough to say goodbye. He is so cute, I bet it will be hard for them to say goodbye to him too.

He is gonna come home soon, I can feel it in me bones. Hope your planning his welcome home party...lol can I come???? hahaha Its sooo neat watching him change with every photo, and he sure is getting more cuter than the one before, if thats even possible. Still got all my prayers going for him.
