I dont know if this is possible, but I am hoping some one can guide me... Is there a way to use the shapes in SBM in Photoshop Elements... I did drag a shape into PSE and tried to combine them, but its not working...I am not sure if this is possible or not....anyone have any ideas???

Carol, I think Carena might be able to help you with this one. I think she works mainly in PSE

I have done it with some shapes. You place the shape over your paper, Making sure the layer with the shape is selected, you then use the magic wand on the area you wish to remove (black or white). Then select the layer your paper is in and delete the unwanted portion.

Hope that makes sense.

You may have to unlock the shape layer first. (double click on the lock next to the shape in the layer panel).

The shapes are vector-based, so you could not import a bitmap or pixel-based jpg or png file into the shapes of PSE. I am going to do some experimenting and I will get back to you with what I find. By the way, photoshop has a define custom shape under the edit menu, but PSE does not seem to have it.

Hey MB... thanks for those sites! I will definately check them out... I know how to use the shapes in PSE and even downloaded some free ones for PSE but what I was confused about was the masks... which in SBM are called shapes...geezeeee it gets so confusing sometimes...I think all the ones in SBM I can use in PSE.

Thanks Sue for the hint. Use masks and shapes all the time in SBM; however, had yet to figure out in PSE. Guess I have to play around some more.
