View Full Version : Need help with Masked Templates

Can anyone help me with understanding how masked templates work (not QP's but the layouts), and how I use them with SBM. I'm still a newbie at this stuff and need all the help I can get. ;). Great big cyber hugs, Ajila

hi & welcome
if they are flattened jpegs you can use them as a shape - open a paper scrap > right click >check click custom shape > go into change shape > find the mask template you wish to use via browse > ok
hope that helps

Thank you for your instructions. I'm not sure what you mean about 'flattened .jpg'. However, I did make a simple template object. Yay!
However, I can't seem to make the ones with multiple objects in it to work. I've seen them for sale in the SBM's Digital kits store. But am afraid to buy one until I figure this out. Anymore help would be appreciated. Hugs, Ajila ;)

PS: I know what a jpg is, I just don't know what flattened means. Thank you again. hugs, Ajila

the smt versions and the ones in the embellishment section are made up in serveral layers, you just have to do the same as above for each layer and you get some fabulous results
an example attached from one of Donna Thomas template sets DLT PPP KIT
flattened jpeg is a solid non movable jpeg image ;)

Thanks for all of your help. I think I'm starting to get it now. Am I right that some templates (from other sites) won't work with SBM? I really do appreciate you taking time to walk me through this.
I keep being amazed at what SBM can do. I'm not at all familiar with Adobe or PS. So I'm delighted that I can do so much with this program. Hugs, Ajila :D

You can download any png file format and save in e.g a new folder you create , then open up the folder and click and drag the embellishment or paper into the sbm software and a box will pop up and ask you to use as ... you can just choose embellishment or paperscrap (if you e.g want to change the shape for the paper or so.) that will work. Hope it helps . Happy Scrapbooking dear. :)

You are right! Templates that you get from other sites don't work the same in SBM. You CAN try to cut papers to match the shapes in the template but you can't click on each shape and have your paper cut automatically to that shape. For templates to work in SBM they have to end with the .smt extension. Most outside stores create templates for use in photoshop or paint shop where they work in "layers".

;)I wanted to thank all of you for helping me with the templates. I think I actually understand  them now and how they apply to SBM. Thank you so much for your help. Leaving you some love. Hugs, Ajila
