Thanks for the chance!

04-14-2008, 12:23 PM
Ok, have to get the thinking cap on. Sure sounds like fun. Great layout, Fiona and super challenges.

04-14-2008, 01:31 PM
Very Cute Fiona!

04-14-2008, 01:52 PM
If she would only sell her brain in the store instead of kits, I would buy instantly!!! Where does she get the ideas to do this stuff?

Great challenge, Fiona!!!

04-14-2008, 01:55 PM
I don't know Granny, but I'm with you!

04-14-2008, 02:51 PM
Here's mine, no I'm not that quick, just on a different time zone, http://www.scrapbookmax.com/gallery/data/2250/alpha-challenge-000-Page-1.jpg
M stakedmat (is that allowed)
I italic
S staple
O oval (photo shape)

04-14-2008, 03:46 PM
Wow, Fiona and Mismo, those are awesome.

Ok, here is my try. I just love this challenge. Thank you for letting me participate. Fortunately, I had a lot of the stuff already made. Here are the letters used

G- Grunge, gems
R- Ribbons (lace ok?)
A- Alpha
N- Numbers
N- Paperclip
Y- Leaves

The petals on the daisy are supposed to be Rubies, so that would count for gems too? Pretty please.

04-14-2008, 04:09 PM
A great layout, I love the colour, I may try one with my full name, that way I'll have to use more.

04-14-2008, 04:24 PM
What a fun idea. I'm gonna have to get busy....

04-14-2008, 04:57 PM
Hey guys, I need to use the H for hinge or hands, really can't use the hands for the layout I want to do. What is a hinge and does anyone have one? My husband says take the hinge of the door and scan it, don't think that will work - ROFLMAO:D

04-14-2008, 05:08 PM
wow am going to have to give this some real thought

04-14-2008, 05:38 PM
mimso & granny great pages ladies :D

as for selling my brain....it's not worth a lot...one very bad owner ...over used, worn out and exausted lol

04-14-2008, 05:56 PM
Here are some hinges I made a long time ago. Not too rusty though, they might work.

ps: Click to view, then right click and save as a png.

04-14-2008, 06:43 PM
Wow Fiona, that's a great challenge ! Great work everyone, just like Nanwu said will have to thing about that one. Not to sure about some words here, like what is an overlay and layered cluster? THanks for enlighten me.

04-14-2008, 07:28 PM
an overlay is a png image, it is normally a pattern with transparency between the images so you can 'overlay' it onto a background to get a different effect.

a cluster is a group of embellishments that have already been merged together to create one embellishment, usually ribbons, bows, beads etc

04-14-2008, 07:32 PM
Does someone have a pice of paper to write all this down on? lol...Great challenge, and I will get started on this right away...
and Granny, for a buck I will tell you how she comes up with all these ideas..lol...<wink> :D Great pages so far everyone...:D

04-14-2008, 07:34 PM
Now I pity the members with the really long names. Since we have so many "grannies" on the forum, can we just copy Granny's layout? I could just add an wire, an icicle, and a net.

What do you think, Granny???

04-14-2008, 07:36 PM
Thanks Fiona but I am still not sure, can you show me a picture of these? I understand better when I see sorry for the bother.

04-14-2008, 07:39 PM
Grannywin this is cheating,LOL Yeah I am jealous because mine is long, no just kidding!

04-14-2008, 07:47 PM
example of clusters & overlays attached :D

by the way you can use your real name for a shorter list of items ;)

04-14-2008, 08:12 PM
Thank you Fiona for these I really appreciate it. My real name would be to boring because to short...

04-14-2008, 08:28 PM
Thanks Granny for the hinges. I appreciate it.:D

rosana brito
04-14-2008, 09:15 PM
Fiona I request my excuses in case that it has made this made a mistake ok

But I understood that would be for making use of these elements,

I appreciate its ideas, congrats very

04-14-2008, 09:58 PM

04-15-2008, 12:36 AM
Okie...... finally done it.

Now I am a 'little regret' to have such a long 'username' cos I really 'squeeze' my 'little' brain 'hard' for ideas to add everything that match my name. LOL... :) . I took these pic. in a little town where my hubby's granny and aunt family live in British Columbia. :)

P - brown paper as background
i - italic fonts (brown)
n - nails
k - butterfly

L- grass layer
o - translucent overlay
l - lace 1
l - lace 2
i - 2nd set of italic font (brown)

04-15-2008, 12:38 AM
the layouts so far are awesome, this is a really great challenge to get people thinking

04-15-2008, 01:49 AM
Ya you are right nanwu,

This is a very good challenge. I learn more from 'exploring' sbm features . Is very useful to me . Everyone did a fabulous pages. :) Great job :)

04-15-2008, 02:10 AM
Congratulations everyone you did a fantastic job.

Unfortunately for me I won't be doing any challenge for now, everything is a mess in my laptop I can't find what I want.Like I wanted to participate in Christine's Challenge too but can't find the template where it was downloaded in my laptop. A bit sad though that I cannot join the fun. I guess I will have to admire yours untill I sort out everything.

04-15-2008, 02:44 AM
Wow Fiona, that's a great challenge ! Great work everyone, just like Nanwu said will have to thing about that one. Not to sure about some words here, like what is an overlay and layered cluster? THanks for enlighten me. Can I butt in and ask what's a mat, I used the "stakedmat", but not sure if this was correct, thnks

04-15-2008, 05:52 AM
wow wonderful pages everyone :D you all have done such a brilliant job on your pages

i often use this method when i am stuck getting ideas for layouts - i just use peoples names/ kit names/ food names etc and make a list up...drop all the items into a sub file and then use those items to make the layout

those who's names are long you can use part of your member name if you like

mimso a mat is a small background piece of paper, (often decorated in some way) ie a retangle or circle that you place photos on

04-15-2008, 05:56 AM
Here's mine. This was a lot of fun, just like a scavenger hunt. Hope that I have time today or tomorrow to look at all the ones submitted. Baby sitting duty means not much computer time.

M = Striped circular mat
A = Alphas for title
K = Beads
E = Edge Border (used twice)
Y = Leaves
E = Edge Border (used twice)
S = Stitches
U = Buttons
P = Postcard - front and back

04-15-2008, 06:37 AM
This is a really cool layout! I love your icicles! Did you make them yourself?

04-15-2008, 08:46 AM
My entry for the weekly challenge. I used Fiona's Delightful Denim Kit.
S= Stiches from Kimb's Pretty Twisted

U= Buttons I used the the brad/rivits/buttons
(what ever they are) from Fiona's
"Delightful Denim" kit for the

E= Edge Border: I used a shape from Donna's
(Autistic Wonder) "Bent and
Folded" kit on the paper behind

04-15-2008, 09:25 AM
My word... I'm really impressed with all the layouts. We have talent gallore in this forum.

Granny, you could use my layout, but then we would miss out in seeing your own wonderful creation ,which will be better than mine a thousand times!!!

Trisha... You're most welcome. I hope they help!

Fiona... Keep up the great challenges!

Wolvsie... I'll give two bucks!

04-15-2008, 09:31 AM

04-16-2008, 07:56 AM
You 'poor' little Melanie, :)

Trust me I know how you feel ... (we all long name........LOL.. ). I am sure you will be able to come up with some lovely designs cos you are talented (I saw your layouts before). Take care. :)

04-16-2008, 12:37 PM
What great talent we have here! These are all great layouts. It's also a great challenge Fiona! I'm not able to do this challenge because I'm busy :( but it does look like fun! :)

04-16-2008, 01:39 PM
Here's my page for the challenge. This one took me quite a while but had a lot of fun.... kinda like a scavenger hunt. I made the background paper and the Mickey Mouse frame shape myself. Credits are in the gallery.

E - Edge Border (stitches in the corner)
L - Layered Cluster (Flowers in the Corner)

E - Eyelet (made mouse ears for the tag)
Y - Leaves (using leaves on flowers in corner)

04-16-2008, 04:25 PM
Well, you set the challenge and I could not resist. First I made Sugar 'n Spice for your weekly challenge with my two grand-daughters in it. And, then I got to thinking I could not make one without making its partner picture Snips 'n Snails. So, I have done another and these are my two grandsons, Dante and Lincoln.

All papers, and elements were created by me.

Thank you for viewing.

04-16-2008, 07:32 PM
Congrat Vanessa for the beautiful paper you made, lucky you.

04-16-2008, 08:06 PM
Well done, Vanessa. A good grandma spoils both genders of grandchildren. Both pictures deserve a place of honor on the family picture wall.

04-17-2008, 03:18 AM
Well done, Vanessa. A good grandma spoils both genders of grandchildren. Both pictures deserve a place of honor on the family picture wall. You're right there and I can't help but spoil them. What's not to adore?

04-17-2008, 07:33 AM
Wonderful layouts and such pretty papers, Vanessa. And may I also say, I like seeing the real you! Love your avatar!

04-17-2008, 07:54 AM
Wonderful layouts and such pretty papers, Vanessa. And may I also say, I like seeing the real you! Love your avatar! Why thank you and have you had any inspiration for this challenge yet, or are you still thinking of renaming yourself?

You all say such nice things about my work, I would love to see some of yours. After you old timers - and that is meant in the nicest possible way as you have all been scrapping for ages, have a wealth of experience to show off.

04-17-2008, 05:54 PM
Well, If I ever think of a good one I'm changing my name. This was HARD! But here's mine. The frames came from a download by LorieM called "Thankful Life". Everything else came from either Fiona Storey's "Possibilities" freebie or from her kit called "Stamped and Dated".

This is lovely. Everyone did a fantastic 'job' ....... love the layouts :)

04-19-2008, 09:12 AM
Here we go. This is a picture of my oldest daughter and I at her senior prom.
L - lace
I - itallics
N -number
D - Doodle
A - Alpha
all elements from Summer Driggs - Relax
get it here http://summertimedesigns.blogspot.com/
The doodles were re colored and came from a kit by Angelwithin. I am sorry I can't locate the name of the kit. I have it labled simply as "embies". Maybe Fiona can help me with a name.

04-19-2008, 10:40 AM
Pilot, baby.... Excellent!!!! I'm totally impressed. Nice family, great layout!!

Keep up the good work!

Wolvsie... Great layout. You did not have to tell us that is your brother... He looks as crazy as you do. The resemblance is remarkable!!

Did you have to say that out loud? Geez...lol...He is great though and nothing like me...<wink> I call him Turtle..:D

04-19-2008, 12:16 PM
I do like this layout Linda, especially your twirly bits. They are very pretty. Your daughter is quite lovely too.

04-19-2008, 02:54 PM
Thanks Vanessa, I think I'll keep her :)

04-19-2008, 03:05 PM
Now there's a shame, I thought you might join me in populating Granny's family. Granny tells me that she has no grandchildren and asked if she could have one of mine. I agreed she could share them with me. I thought that your daughter being about 18 would round them off nicely, my four are 18 mths, 7, 8 and 10 and with your daughter she could have the set. One who is well and truly in the terrible twos, one who is fast approaching puberty and all that brings with it, two who are rapidly catching up and your daughter who should have gone through all that by now. A couple of days with them all and I am sure Granny would appreciate how nice it is to be able to hand them back at the end of the day.

04-19-2008, 03:29 PM
Well - if we want to help Granny swear off children, I have four daughters - 20, 17, 14 and 13! I'll check with my husband and see if he's willing to see if I can swing a trade for some boys. He's a little overwhelmed with estrogen :)

04-19-2008, 05:14 PM
Thank you Lolly, beautiful pages everyone so much talent here It is hard to have a preference !!!

04-20-2008, 12:14 AM
The end to another wonderful challenge. Congratulations to the long-named scrappers. They had the hardest challenge and did a wonderful job. It is an interesting concept, Fiona, to start with a name for a layout idea. I will have to give it another try in the future.

04-20-2008, 06:12 AM
wonderful layouts all, it's amazing what people can pull out of the hat when they start thinking.

04-20-2008, 09:05 AM
Ok, I FINALLY got something done for this challenge. And I didn't cheat by changing my name, either. I figured if MOONLIGHTPEARL could do her lon-n-n-n-g-g-g name, I could surely come up with something. So here's mine. I had to use H - Hinge or Hands so thought of how much I loved my Daddy's Hands and this is my favorite song so here goes.
O - Oval picture
2 - Hmmm...nothing for this so I made it "times 2" (i.e. 2 brads on doodle)
B - Brads on doodle
N - Paperclip on doodle
G - Gems
D - Doodle
H - Hands in picture
O - Overlay
P - Photo Corners
E - Eyelet on doodle with ribbon threaded thru it

Whew! Fiona, I usually thank you for the challenges but this one was HARD! I notice no one posted twice on THIS challenge! Boy you showed us the true meaning of CHALLENGE with this one. Your horns are showing again.

04-20-2008, 09:18 AM
Woow, what a challenge. I WO this time, cause I was away for 3 days.
Everybody layouts are amazing. Congratulations !!

04-20-2008, 09:23 AM
fabulous layouts everyone...they are brilliant you all have done so well

you have approx 8 hours left to submit for this challenge...i have another challenging challenge for you starting tomorrow :D

04-20-2008, 10:44 AM
Mel this is quite lovely. Made me cry - my dad and I are very close and he is not long for this world, but he also lives 6000 miles away, so you touched a heartstring there.

Your eyes must be as bad as mine, cos there is one sad soul who did two posts - P5 and P7.

04-20-2008, 12:25 PM
Vanessa, you must be a glutton for punishment! Sorry, I forgot you made two. LOL!

04-20-2008, 12:52 PM
Vanessa, you must be a glutton for punishment! Sorry, I forgot you made two. LOL!Not really, it was just that I had been having a go at making a kit from the papers etc that I used for the first one of my grand-daughters and I felt a bit mean at not including my grandsons, so I quickly knocked up another one to make a matching pair. I intend to send them overseas to my Mum eventually.

Thank you Fiona, this is lovely. Your orange swirly bits, (I don't know what you call them) they remind me of the petals of flame lilies. (Lilium Gloriosa). They used to be our National flower back in Rhodesia well Zimbabwe as it is now.

Melanie, you got in under the wire but did a beautiful job. You managed to find something for everything in your LONG name. Congratulations.

There must be a very special relationship between daddys and little girls. I recently saw a notice at a local school for a Father-Daughter dance and was very touched at the thought of it.

No such this as a stupid question here! Look under your embellishments (the red heart at the top of your page).

Another stupid question coming up, I just downloaded Fiona's lovely freebie, where's it gone, I cant find it in SBM. Run a search in your windows explorer for "FSTWeek23GoodieBag.smb" and windows will soon find where it went.

Same thing happened to me! I better check where it is. Thanks for the advices.

I seem to be having a problem with the programme, Iv'e located the freebie file in embelishments, but its not in a folder or anything, and it wont open, I've tried saving it to templates, but it wont work, do you think I should re install the programe, to overcome this.

04-21-2008, 06:21 AM
Mismo, I don't use SBM but I can open the file with a file compression programme to reveal the bits and pieces inside. I then make use of them from there. If you can open the archive file with a zip utility, then surely it should be possible to import the various files into SBM. Why don't you try this first before trying something so radical as re-installing the programme.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see what I can do.:)
